Anne Moore was born January 15, 1927 to Thomas Earle and Iola Everett Gentry in Conroe, Texas and passed away May 1, 2013 in Conroe. Mrs. Moore graduated from Gulf Park College in Gulfport Mississippi and graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1948. She was a Life Member of SMU Alumni Association and a Chi Omega. She married A. L. (Lavoy) Moore in 1949, who preceded her in death after 53 years of marriage. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women in Conroe, Charter Member and Past President of Conroe Service League, a past director of Pan American Roundtable, organizer, past Secretary and Charter Life Member of Montgomery County Foundation for Performing Arts (Crighton Theatre), organizer and charter member of Montgomery County Performing Arts Society, charter organizer of Metropolitan Daycare Center, Vice President of Montgomery County Pan-Hellenic Association and a member of Texas Historical Society. She was a patron of Houston Junior League, Young Texas Artists Music Competition, Conroe Symphony and Montgomery County Heritage Museum.
Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her parents, Iola and Earle Gentry, her husband, A. Lavoy Moore and their daughter, Jane Anne Moore. She is survived by her daughters; Susan M. (Susie) Pokorski and husband Jim, Bonnie M. Hanley and husband Mark, Nancy M. McLemore and husband Greg, grandchildren; Matthew (Matt) Hanley and wife Laura, Brian Hanley and fiancée Meredith Wold, Thomas (Tom) McLemore and Camille McLemore.
A visitation from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, May 7 will be at Metcalf Funeral Home and a memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Conroe on Wednesday, May 8, with The Rev. Dr. Jerry Neff officiating. Metcalf Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
