Allen was accompanied by Jesus from this earthly life to his eternal home on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the age of 71 after a short battle with cancer. He faced this and every challenge in his life with admirable strength and courage.
Born on August 1, 1951 in Lynwood, California, his family moved to Anaheim, California where Allen grew up in a neighborhood that became an extended family. After graduating from high school, he met his future wife, Kathy. Married in 1975, they moved to Conroe, Texas in 1976. During their 48 year marriage, Allen and Kathy were blessed with two daughters, Karyn Griffith (Drew) and Kaye Haines-Cellner (Douglas) and three grandsons, Zakary Villarreal, Jon Villarreal and Grayson Griffith.
He was a man of strong faith and few words. Allen taught the importance of faith and family by his actions. He participated in numerous ways in the life of the church including serving in a position of leadership, working on the property and grounds committee, and playing the guitar for worship as well as being involved in local church missions work like Habitat for Humanity.
One of the kindest souls on this planet, Allen was a gentle, giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed. As a husband, he was thoughtful, considerate, and supportive. And as a father and grandfather, he was always present and involved from softball and baseball, to cheerleading, drill team, boy scouts and JROTC, to camping and adventuring. Allen found big and small ways to say "I love you" every day. His love for his family was unconditional.
Early in life he learned the importance of hard work and doing what was right. Allen demonstrated that daily as he worked in the remodeling and construction trade for 45 years where he left his mark on countless homes.
He was a self taught guitarist who spent numerous hours strumming in his music room. His interest in all kinds of music brought him lifelong enjoyment as he played with his friends in jam sessions, bands, and church Praise Teams over the years.
And in all things there was his ever present sense of humor and enthusiasm for life. All who were privileged to know and love him recognize that our lives are forever changed by the footprints Allen left on our hearts as we celebrate and rejoice at his arrival in Heaven.
