Born May 11, 1932 in Kings Mountain, NC, he was the son of the late Will Castle Dover and Bertie Dixon Dover. William was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Impact Furniture where he was a machine operator.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Childers Dover; daughter, Shirley Goble; brother, John Dover; sisters, Ovder Pruitt, Maggie Mullinax and Annie McCallister.
He is survived by daughters, Debbie Carpenter and husband, Terry, of Thomason, GA, Janet Estes and husband, Vernon, of Morganton, NC, Patricia Workman of Newton, Tammy Greenard of Catawba, Joyce Day and husband, Wayne, of Newton; son, Eddie Dean Dover of Newton; sister, Hattie Ramsey of Newton; brothers, Bobby Dover and Clarence Dover, both of Conover; twenty grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
A Service of Remembrance will be held in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015 with Rev. Curtis Peak Jr. and Rev. Patsy Peak officiating.
Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery in Newton, NC. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service.
