Walter “Jack” Jackson Little, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Jack was born in Catawba County to the late Walter E. Little and Virginia Colson Little from Claremont.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Jack served in the US Navy from 1954 to 1956 on the USS Princeton, assigned to N-Div, which was in charge of navigation of the ship. Jack was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and was a retired diesel mechanic from CT Cargo Transporters in Claremont.
Jack was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed stock car racing, go carts, and going to numerous Nascar events with his sons. He was an active member of the Bethlehem United Methodist Men, served as Claremont Fire Chief in the 1960’s. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in sports and he would often ride them on his lawnmower thru Claremont.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Lorean Pennell Little from Taylorsville; sons, Bobby Little (Rose), Tim Little (Tammie), Gary Little (Kelly), Jamey Little (Holly); daughter, Jeannie Sullins (Randall); sister, Linda Yount of Claremont; and grandchildren, Kristina, Charlie, Sammy, Jackie, Jace and Owen Little.
A celebration of life service with military rites will be held Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 3pm at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 3214 Catawba St, Claremont with Pastor Dennis Marshall officiating. Receiving will follow after the service.
