Born June 2, 1939 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Fred Adolphus Simmons and Sarah Jane Tutherow Simmons.
Nancy was strong in her Christian faith. She enjoyed socializing with her friends and family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin D. Pope.
Left to cherish her memory are daughter, Teresa Pope; sons, David Franklin Pope and wife, Cindy, and Clyde Allen Pope; sisters, Carolyn Underwood and husband, Ken, Doris Huffman and husband, Charles; grandchildren, Marissa Vega, David Alan Pope, Jasen Pope and Ethan Pope.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2018 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover at 2:00 p.m with the Dr. Glenn Pinckney officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery in Newton.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service, from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
