Born December 27, 1928, she was a lifelong member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover, NC. She was a generous lady who never failed to donate to charities she received in the mail. Said of Lula, “She was saving the world five dollars at a time”.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Albert and Sophronia “Fronie” Bell Spencer; her husband of 21 years, Edgar Lee Phillips; her husband of 17 years, Thomas “Red” McMickle; and daughter, Ellen “Elaine” Phillips.
Lula is survived by daughters Lynn Phillips Campbell (Brian) of Newton and Treva Phillips (Ike) of Huntersville; grandchildren Zachery Campbell, Sarah Campbell and Tiffany McGee (Chris); step-grandchildren Denise McMurray and Randy Stone; and great-grandchildren Nicalis and Braden Phillips and Mikaela McGee.
A funeral service will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Mark Schudde officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell United Methodist Church at 3734 Heyward Hough Road in Lancaster, SC.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Drum Funeral Home in Conover.
