He was born in Lexington, Kentucky, May 21, 1978 where he spent his early childhood. He moved to Hickory in 1984 where he spent the rest of his life.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, James F. Cook, Nancy R. Feather, and Charles Dohn.
He is survived by his father, Dr. Leland James Cook; mother, Susan Dohn Cook of Conover; sister, Jessica Cook Smythe and husband, Kevin, of Raleigh; and grandmother, Mary Marshall of Louisville, Kentucky.
Lee had his primary education in Hickory. He graduated from Full Sail University with a degree in Recording Arts, and completed an internship with Sony Records in New York City. Even though he was working on another degree in Radiography when he became ill, music was his passion and life. He was very talented and inspired many people to take up guitar. His best friends were involved in his music and they had great times. We would like to thank his friends for their care and support during his illness, especially Mr. Larry Gragg.
The Cook family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Catawba Regional Hospice. Their excellence in managing Lee’s physical, spiritual, and emotional wants and needs was outstanding, both in our home and at the hospice house in Newton. The family would also like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Frye Regional, Catawba Valley Medical Center, Carolina Oncology, and Guardian Health Care for their care and support.
Final arrangements are private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice at 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, North Carolina 28658, so that they may continue to care for and support other patients and their families in Catawba County.
