Julia was a beacon of love, grace, and kindness. Her strength stemmed from her unwavering faith and love for her savior, which she leaned on to nurture and protect her family. She was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, whose presence was a comforting and steadfast force in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Robert C. Byrd; daughter, April Byrd; son, Josh Byrd; daughter-in-law, Dixie Byrd; grandchildren, Hannah, Connor, and Braden Byrd; brother, John Wood; sisters-in-law, Brenda and Mary Wood; nephews, Steven Barrett, Jason and Adam Wood; nieces, Amanda Wehunt and Brittany Reyes. Julia was preceded in death by her grandmother, Irene Spencer; mother, Margaret Wood; father, Benton A. Wood; and brother, Lamar Wood.
Throughout her life, Julia enjoyed being in & working in her the yard, flower arranging, interior decorating, attending arts festivals, and going to antique auctions with her husband, Bob. She loved the Smokey Mountains during fall. Julia loved being on the go and traveling with friends and family, especially to the Mountains of GA, TN, & NC in the fall. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.
Her legacy of love and faith will continue to live on through the many lives she touched
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Drums Funeral Home, 509 First Avenue South, Conover, NC. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday, October 8, at 10:00am at Oxford Baptist Church, 5965 Springs Road, Conover, NC. A graveside service will take place on October 10, 2024, at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Hwy NW, Atlanta, GA, at 11:00am.
