With great sadness, we announce the passing of our precious mother, Betty Jean James who passed away in a tragic auto accident on Friday, December 6, 2024. She was 90 years old. Betty was born in Argo, Alabama on October 13, 1934.
Betty loved her flowers, plants, and garden. In her earlier years she loved to go fishing and she loved to dance.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Leon James; son, Joseph James; daughters, Mary Lou Barker, Carol Ann James; sisters, Joyce Thrift, Annette Guy; mother, Lucille Mosley; and two nieces.
Betty is survived by daughters, Vickie James of Statesville, Debra Rhodes (Charles) of Alabama, Libby Summer of Texas, Gail James of Conover; sister, Kay of Florida; stepsons, Richard James (Patsy) of Hickory, Gary James (Della) of Newton; stepdaughters, Linda Stamey of Newton, Ann Barga of Hickory; 21 grandkids and numerous great grandkids and great great grandkids and many nieces and nephews.
An inurnment for Betty will be held at 1pm on Friday, December 20, 2024 at St. Paul's Memorial Park in Newton.
