Mary Elizabeth Haynes

Mary E. Haynes, 87 a resident of Valley Cottage since 2001 passed away on September 20, 2021. She was born in Brooklyn on May 12, 1934 to James and Mary Carty. Mary worked at New York Telephone Company before becoming a full-time mother and raising her family on Staten Island. As her children grew, she returned to work as a secretary at United Cerebral Palsy until her retirement.

Mary is survived by her children, Mary Levine (Donald), James Haynes (Kathleen), Catherine Cirrone (Chris), Linda Mathis (Michael); her grandchildren Michael and Steven Levine, Ryan and Daniel Loughran, Patrick, Maryanne and Connor Haynes, James and Philip Cirrone, Corryn, Clare and Kate Mathis, great-grandchildren Finn, Kairi and Sophie Loughran and her sister Theresa Moylan and brother Thomas Carty. She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Howard R. Haynes, her daughter Carol A. Loughran, her grandson Paul Levine, brother James Carty and sister Eileen Curran.

A funeral mass will be held Monday September 27th, 2021 10 AM, at St. Paul’s church in Congers with burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island, NY. Visiting hours will be Sunday, September 26th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Higgins Funeral Home in Congers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
