John James Fitzpatrick

John Fitzpatrick passed away peacefully on July 28, 2021 with his family by his side. John, originally from Clifden, Co. Galway, Ireland, was born January 4, 1934 to John and Barbara Fitzpatrick. His wife of 54 years, Nora (nee Walsh) originally from Ballymacarbry, Co. Waterford, Ireland, passed away November 10, 2019. John is survived by his children, Sean (Alicia) Fitzpatrick, Brendan (Deanna) Fitzpatrick, Noreen Bernhardt, Patrick (Jaime) Fitzpatrick, Ann (Keith) Finnerty, Eileen (Aidan) Ryan and 13 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sister Peter and Paul from Ireland and Ann and Michael from England. John is predeceased in death by his parents, wife Nora, sisters, Mary and Nora and brothers James, Patrick and Thomas.

John immigrated from Ireland to Kanas in 1957. From Kanas he settled in Bronx, NY where he met his wife Nora. John joined the FDNY in 1963. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1983 and retired in 1993. In 1976 John and family moved to Garnerville, NY. John was a proud member of the Rockland GAA. He loved playing cards at the Irish Culture Center and enjoyed the craic at OTB with his friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 1st at Michael J Higgins Funeral Home, 113 Lake Road East, Congers, NY 10920 between the hours of 2 pm till 4 pm and 6 pm till 9 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church in Garnerville NY on Monday, August 2, 2021 at 11:00am.
