He was born in Concord, New Hampshire as was his wife, Elizabeth Enos.
Thomas J. Enright received a B.A. in Mathematics from Harvard University in 1969 and a Ph.D. in Mathematics in 1973 from the University of Washington. From 1973 to 1975 he was the Hedrick Assistant Professor at UCLA. He spent the 1976-1977 year at the Institute for Advanced Study. He moved to Solana Beach in 1977 joining the Department of Mathematics at the University of California at San Diego. Dr. Enright was awarded the 1978 Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship allowing him to visit universities across the globe sharing his research findings in algebraic theory of representations of real reductive Lie groups. In 2010 he retired due to symptoms of Parkinson's disease.
In addition to his brilliance and dedication in mathematics he was also passionate about woodworking, cycling, skiing, fly-fishing, camping and backpacking with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Enos) Enright; son, James Enright and sister, Jane Oswitt.
A viewing will be held at Bennett Funeral Home in Concord, NH Friday, February 8th at 10 AM. Burial will be in Blossom Hill Cemetery, Concord, NH.
