Bob is survived by his wife, Helen, of Concord NH, his son Daniel and his wife Julie of Epsom, son Donald and wife Mary of Penacook, son Peter and his wife Sharon of Contoocook, and daughter Karen Jennison and husband Bill, of Belmont. Bob was also blessed with six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Bob is survived by his brother Dana Prescott of Concord. He is preceded in death by his sister Betty Philbrick of Concord.
Bob was born on November 2, 1930 in Concord NH, to Louise and Robert Prescott, Sr. of Concord. He graduated from Concord High School in 1948, and the University of NH in 1950 with an Associate Degree in Technical Design. He married Helen Chapman, his high school sweetheart in 1951. After living in an apartment, Bob built his own house in 1954 on Pembroke Road with the help of friends and coworkers. After graduating from UNH, he joined the NH National Guard on Pembroke Road. Over the next six years, the couple welcomed four children into their home and Bob and Helen set about raising them in the teaching and admonition of the Lord. His children remember him as a kind, hardworking, and devoted father who encouraged them to pursue their life dreams.
Bob retired as a Warrant Officer CW3 after 35 years of continued employment both in the Guard and the Reserves. During his career Bob was a member of the National Guard Biathlon Team. Bob was accomplished at skiing, hunting, golf, square dancing, and often traveled with his wife, Helen, during their retirement years together. He was a member of Beaver Meadow Golf Course, the Silver Streaks Ski Club and the Concord Coach Square Dance club. He was a dedicated individual who provided well for his family and always ensured he spent lots of time with them. He taught his sons how to hunt, fish and manage the house and family. He loved his only daughter deeply. He was an active member of the Immanuel Community Church and served in the choir, as Deacon and Clerk of the church.
Calling hours will take place on Sunday, July 8th, between 3 and 7 PM at Bennett’s Funeral Home at 209 North Main Street in Concord, NH. The funeral is scheduled for Monday, July 9th at 11:00 AM at Bennett’s Funeral Home. Following the funeral service, a burial service will be held at the Soucook Cemetery on Josiah Bartlett Road. Reverend Randy Thompson will officiate the funeral service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bob's life.
