He was born in Manchester on July 17, 1962 a son of David and Beverly (Lamontagne) McKay. His father, while serving in the military, received transfer orders and so the first three years of Michael’s life were spent in Munich, Germany.
When he returned to the States, the family lived in the Lakes region and Michael was educated in Winnisquam schools. He graduated from Winnisquam High School before going on to New Hampshire Technical Institute. His years of learning and hard work earned him the title of Master Electrician.
He worked for five years at Concord Steam Boiler servicing and repairing machinery until its closure. Michael then branched out on his own, installing and supervising the installation of complex machinery for many different companies throughout the country.
Michael had many different passions. A huge NASCAR fan, He loved Harley Davidsons, his dogs, boating, gardening and the love he had for his family and friends.
He is predeceased by his mother, Beverly McKay.
Michael is survived by his father, David MacKay; his step-mother, Dorothy Knowlton; 2 sons: Sean and Jason McKay both of Chichester; his fiancé, Eleanor Emery of Canterbury; a brother, James McKay of Gilmanton Iron Works; a sister, Sharon McKay of Sanbornton and his former spouse, Marie McKay.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main Street, Concord. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pope Memorial SPCA, 94 Silk Farm Rd, Concord, NH 03301. Arrangements are entrusted to the Bennett Funeral Home of Concord.
