Mrs. Lois Loomis was born in Waterbury, Ct. to Carlton and Hazel Lynn Perkins. She moved with her family at a young age to Sunshine Farm in Bradford, NH where she grew up, with her three brothers and two sisters. After graduating from Symonds Free High school in 1960, she went on to excel at Concord Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1963. In the early seventies, Hazel Perkins combined families with Classen Perkins of who had four boys and they became a joyous family of twelve.
She met her husband Ernest Loomis, and they were married at the Bradford Baptist Church, September 8, 1963. The couple had two children, son Michael and daughter Kelly. She followed her husband where the State Police transferred him, finally settling in Concord, NH where they lived for forty-nine years. She retired from the Hitchcock Clinic after the birth of their first grandchild, so she could do what she loves most and care for her grandchildren.
Lois had an extensive history as a Registered Nurse at Concord Hospital, Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center in Greenfield, Camp Union in Greenfield and Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinic, Concord where she ultimately retired.
She is survived by her husband of nearly fifty-eight years, Major(Ret), Ernest Loomis. Their son Michael, his wife Annie and their two daughters, Taylor, and Parker. Their daughter Kelly Durling, her husband Nathan, and Kelly’s children Sydney Nicholson, Sean Nicholson and his wife Maya. Nathan’s children, Heather Horn and her daughter Olivia, Jonathan Durling and his wife Maria, Cameron Durling and his fiancé Mikaela.
Lois also left behind her brother John Perkins and his wife Carol, sister Joyce and her husband Perry Teele, brother Gary Perkins and his wife Jarna as well as her step-brothers Charles Perkins and wife Trudy, Donald Perkins and wife Rose, Robert Perkins, Thomas Perkins and wife Kathy, Brother-in-law James Loomis and his wife Gail. She was predeceased by her sister Nancy Battles, her brother William Perkins and sister-in-law Fran Perkins.
Lois was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a loyal friend and nurturer to all. She loved tending her gardens, reading many novels, and spending time making memories with her family.
Service will be held Thursday September 9, 2021 at 10am at the Bradford Community Church located 88 W. Main Street Bradford, NH. The burial will follow promptly at noon at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH. The after gathering will be held at the Barn at Bull Meadow, 63 Bog Road, Concord, NH.
