She was born May 14, 1953 in Nashua, NH to Henry P. and Mary (Sullivan) Beaulieu. She was raised in Nashua and attended Sacred Heart Elementary School, Elm Street Junior High School and graduated from Nashua High School Class of 1971. She also attended Rivier and Hesser Colleges.
Joan began her career working in the banking and finance industry. She became a partner in the Red Horse Tavern in Warner, NH. Then she went to work in the electro-optical industry at Labsphere in Sutton, NH where she was involved in marketing and communications. From Labsphere she went on to become a founding partner of Sphereoptics Co. of Concord, NH. After the sale of Sphereoptics she returned to Labsphere. Throughout her entire career Joan is best remembered as a dedicated and timeless worker.
Joan was a very active member in the Tom Pond Protective Association, serving as President and also had been active in the Warner Historical Society. One of Joan’s simplest pleasures was watching the sunsets over her beloved Tom Pond.
She will be missed greatly by her family and many friends.
In life she was predeceased by her father, Henry P. Beaulieu, her father in law Arthur W. Hicks, Sr., and sister in law Virginia H. Moran.
She is survived by her husband Arthur W. Hicks, Jr. of Warner, NH, her mother Mary (Sullivan) Beaulieu of Nashua, NH, her brother Philip J. Beaulieu of Lowell, MA, her sisters Beth Yochum and her husband Frederick of Alpharetta, GA, Ann Gauthier and her husband Alain of Nashua, NH and mother in law Virginia B. Gray of Concord, NH and sister in laws Diana H. Brighton of Hooksett, NH, Deborah H. Connell and her husband Barry of Newport, NH, Pamela H. Samaha of Pittsfield, NH, Cynthia S. Hicks of Concord, NH and her many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews that brought so much joy in her life.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main Street, Concord.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 10:30am at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 21 Centre Street, Concord.
