Charlene worked for Morrill & Everett Ins. Co. as a Bookkeeping Machine Operator for 10 years and later was employed with the Merrimack Valley School District as Secretary at the Loudon Elementary School for 23 years. She also taught NH History to the 4th grade classes. She was also employed with the Town of Loudon as Deputy Town Clerk for 13 years, retiring from both positions in 2000.
Charlene was an active member of the American Legion Post 88 Auxiliary in past years. A PTA member for 35 years, serving as Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer over the years. She taught summer vacation bible school at the former Advent Christian Church; was Loudon Centre Cemetery Association Clerk; elementary school library volunteer; active in the “Young at Heart” Seniors Group serving on the Planning Committee. She also helped design the groups Old Home Day float for one year and then became one of the judges for floats at the Old Home Day Parade. She was also a judge for the baking contest prior to being a float judge. She was also a ballot clerk at the Loudon polls for many years. In 2004 Charlene was the recipient of the “Citizen of the Year” award at the Loudon Old Home Day ceremonies.
Charlene was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Allan; her parents, Jerry Bishop and Etta E. Elkins Bishop; a brother, Walter W. Bishop; sister, Nelda Riel; her granddaughter, Jaclyn M. Morin; a son-in-law David J. Huckins and a sister-in-law, Shirley Duffett; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her 3 children, Richard Morin and his wife, Kim; Robert Morin and his wife, Sabrina and a daughter, Tracy Huckins. 4 grandchildren, Nicole Morin, Cam Morin, Cassidy Huckins and Carly Huckins. 2 step-grandchildren, Kyle and Nicco Vizziello. 2 great-grandchildren, Jayce Morin and Bennett Barton.
Charlene enjoyed bowling at Boutwells with the “House Wives League”; camping at Crown Point Campground; visiting her son and daughter-in-law in Port Orange FL; watching her granddaughters play and coach basketball and field hockey; puzzles; going out to eat and, most of all, making people laugh.
Graveside services will be held at the Loudon Centre Cemetery Sunday, Nov. 10 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the David J. Huckins Memorial Scholarship Fund 166 King St. Boscawen, NH 03303 or the Loudon Fire/Rescue Department, Loudon NH 03307 or a charity of your choice.
