She was born Carolyn Elisabeth Coyne in Framingham Massachusetts on August 24th, 1930, the daughter of Thomas A. Coyne and Helen (Kelley) Coyne. Her brother, Thomas Coyne, and sister Patricia (Coyne) Foley, both pre-deceased her, as did her husband of 42 years, James P. Shea, former owner of Capitol Distributors Inc. in Concord.
She graduated with a BA from Emmanuel College in Boston in 1948, and went on to teach elementary school in Manchester, New Hampshire until she and James had their first child in 1963. She then went to work with her husband and helped build a successful family business which enjoyed 45 years of operation. She was a long-time member of the Hopkinton Women’s Club, and spent much of her time in the summer at the Concord Country Club. She was a part-time resident of Marco Island, Florida where she enjoyed escaping New Hampshire winters and playing golf and bridge with a close group of friends.
She is survived by her two children, daughter Anne D. (Shea) Kern of Manchester, and son John J. Shea of Concord. She was very proud of her four grandchildren, three boys, Jacob H. and Brandon J. Smith, and James C. Shea, and her only granddaughter, Aelin G. Shea.
