I am daughter of Thalia Hondrogen (nee Stravros). Carol is my mother's oldest and best friend, and Thalia is sad. My mother and Carol are three years apart in age, my mom being older. While they both attended CHS, it was when Carol showed up at her first job at Concord Savings Bank,(what 1947?) when they met. It was Thalia who showed her the ropes in their new career in banking. Their friendship was sealed for life. As my sister Dina said, these two could talk for hours and hours. In fact, we did not have a phone social life in high school because of their phone calls.(Remember there was one phone per household!??) So how best to end almost 70 years of friendship, but with a call. Thalia, with help of my sister, Althea, called Carol from northern California last Saturday. They had not talked in a month or so. How was it that this call happened, and then Carol left us later that night. How best to leave but with love in your ear? The Hondrogen family sends its deep condolences to the the Parker clan. Carol was a fast talking, raspy voiced gem of a gal who will be sorely missed! I have vivid memories from childhood answering the phone, Carol knew it was me, would joke with me,  and then my mom and Carol would talk for what seemed like hours to me on the phone. My mother, Thalia was her lifelong friend. They both went to CHS, she was my mom's Bridesmaid and #1 confidant. We are sorry to see her go. My condolensces to the family.

Carol was a memorable person.  I enjoyed knowing her from painting in her home years ago.  She is a positive force in my memory bank.  Condolences to the family and they are all richer for having had her in their life.

So sorry to hear about Auntie Carol passing. She will be missed by many. I have such fond memories of seeing her each year on our yearly visits and the great family reunions she always had. Such great memories. You all are in our thoughts and prayer. Love to all.

If you looked up 'Pissah' in the dictionary of New Englad Slang you would find a photograph of my Auntie Carol.  She was such a dominate force in all my memories of family gatherings that it seemed to me that no matter where I was on those occasions she was the central figure.  She is a huge part of the oldest memories I have of my early childhood and teen years, always right at the table with relatives holding her own in the conversation.  She is the Aunt who insisted she was my favorite aunt and she was right.  I felt she was always on my side, even when I didn't deserve her support but certainly wanted it and needed it.  Her opinion was never far from leaving her lips and her love for everyone was there as well. When I  spoke with her last spring she was every bit herself, rambling on from one subject to the next to make sure I was informed about all the goings-on of my cousins and their families, and her opinions about the state of affairs in our country.  RIP Auntie Carol. I will miss you, a lot.
