Carol Ann Parker, 89, passed away on September 24th at Concord Hospital surrounded by her family. The daughter of Oscar G. and Anna V. Sandquist Ronn, she was a life-long resident of Concord and a graduate of Concord High School, class of 1945.
Carol resided on Stickney Hill Road for 60 years where she could indulge in her love of gardening. She was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed the theater and a good game of Scrabble. For the last four years she lived at Presidential Oaks where she especially enjoyed attending community concerts and playing trivia.
Carol was a member of the First Congregational Church of Concord where she served on the Board of Trustees. She was also a member of NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees) and served as treasurer and secretary of the local chapter for many years.
Carol was predeceased by her husband, Colonel Leon T. Parker Jr.; a brother, Harold Ronn; a sister, Elsie Follansbee; a granddaughter, Amy Whitmore; and a daughter-in-law, Liz Parker.
She is survived by three daughters, Karen Whitmore and her husband, Paul of Hampton, Vicki Kozak and her husband, Joseph of Manchester, Maine, and Tracy Blaisdell and her husband, Mark of Pembroke as well as two sons, David Parker of Concord and James Parker and his wife Bette of Pembroke.
Carol is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Kristen Karpman, Gregory Whitmore, Michael Kozak, John Kozak, Danielle Krautmann, Brent Parker, Heather Parker, Benjamin Parker, Emily Parker, Sarah Blaisdell, and Parker Blaisdell in addition to four great grandchildren, Amelia Krautmann, Luke Karpman, Peter Krautmann and Mia Karpman, a sister-in-law Doris Alexander, and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be on Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 4pm to 7pm at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St. Concord. A Celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Friday, September 30 at 1pm at the First Congregational Church, 177 N. Main St. Concord.
Donations may be made to the First Congregational Church Food Pantry 177 N. Main St. Concord or the charity of one’s choice.
