Dr. Timothy C. Hall (aka “Pop” and “The Falcon”), born August 5, 1939, to the late Helen Meggers Hall and Charles Courtland Hall, died peacefully and surrounded by family on December 10, 2024. Preceded in death by his brothers Frank and Court Hall. Survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Carol Hall; sons Tim Hall Jr. (Christie), Brian Hall (Stacey) and Jeff Hall (Kelly); grandchildren Megan Hennessy (Terry) and Avery, Tim III, Charlie, Patrick, Brian, Kathryn, Caroline, and Ian Hall.
Tim grew up in Gahanna on a farm on the Big Walnut Creek. He was mischievous from an early age and throughout his entire “adulthood”. One of his elementary teachers would later become a patient of his and recount to the office staff about the time she looked in the back of the class and saw him with pencils stuck up his nose.
He graduated from The Ohio State University with an undergraduate degree, a DDS and Master’s, and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and Psi Omega Dental Fraternity. It was at Ohio State where he met and fell in love with Carol. It certainly helped his chances with Carol that he was a bartender at the Varsity Club and provided free beers.
Tim and Carol married and moved to Augusta, Georgia, where he served as a Captain in the U.S. Army at Fort Gordon. It was there that a senior officer convinced him to pursue his education further and to specialize in periodontics.
He built a very successful periodontal practice, loved his career, and gave back to his profession. He would say that he never had a bad day in the office. He was a long-time faculty member of OSU College of Dentistry and among other things served as President of the Ohio Academy of Periodontists and President of the Columbus Dental Society.
He traveled the world with Carol, and he was the kind of guy who made friends on every trip. He particularly enjoyed fishing, hunting, and anything else in the outdoors with his friends - and even more with his boys. He was always on to his next adventure, but his trips and relationships at the farm in South Dakota and his Ontario fishing trips were at the top of his list.
He had a special way of connecting with people from all walks of life and he took great joy in giving to others. For decades, he was a board member of Santa’s Silent Helpers, making friends with those in need every Christmas. He founded the Caring Dentists Foundation, provided dental care to Guatemalan residents on many mission trips with his son Jeff, and provided free dental care to the needy in Central Ohio.
He was a member of Scioto Country Club, Rotary Club of Upper Arlington, and Van Darby Club, as well as a former member of Royal Poinciana Golf Club and Naples Sailing & Yacht Club. He would always say that the fancy golf clubs were for Carol, but we know that he enjoyed them as much as anyone, even though his golf game was primarily watching the ducks fly overhead and looking for fish in the ponds.
Family will receive friends 3-7 pm on Sunday, December 22nd, at the Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 am on Monday, December 23rd, at St. Andrew Church, Upper Arlington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Santa’s Silent Helpers, 1540 Cardiff Road, Columbus, OH 43221.
