Thomas Huston Hardy, 69, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Thomas was born October 8, 1948, in Lima, Ohio, to Robert and Alice (Huston) Hardy. He graduated from Canton Central Catholic High School in 1966 and the Ohio State University in 1971 with a degree in journalism. He was a proud member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. On July 10, 1971, he married his high school sweetheart, Melissa Bow. Thomas spent several years working in the United States Congress for the Committee on House Appropriations. Upon his return to Ohio to raise a family, he worked for the insurance companies New York Life and Nationwide before joining the Independent Insurance Agents of Ohio in public relations, where he would progress and proudly serve as CEO for the next 30 years, a position from which he retired in 2006. Thomas was an avid golfer and loved to spend time with his family and friends; he also enjoyed memberships at the Golf Club and Scioto Country Club. Thomas was a family man who loved his family fiercely. He is survived by his wife, Melissa, and two sons, Thomas Huston Hardy II (Jennifer) and Andrew Christian (Maggie); four grandchildren, Charlotte, Alice, Patrick, and Sydney; his brother Robert (Tonya) of Malibu, California, and sister Christine Wagner (Jake) of Dallas, Texas; as well as his favorite mother-in-law, Rita Bow of Bonita Springs, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Alice. Calling hours will be held on Saturday January 13, 2018, from 2-6pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio.
