Shirley Romayne Bowser King passed away May 15th at age 90. Born to parents Isaac and Minnie Ribblet Bowser on June 18, 1932 in Johnstown, PA. Preceded in death by parents, husband Robert King, son Russell King, son Robert “Skip” King Jr., sisters Melvina and her husband Elmer Rhodes, Ruby and her husband Ralph Doell, brothers Milford and his wife Mary Bowser, Chester Bowser, granddaughter Tanya King and grandson Chris Lehman. Survived by son Dana (Tina) King, daughter-in-law Bonnie King, 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Graduated June 1951 from Johnstown High School, Johnstown, PA. Went to Washington DC and worked for the Federal Government at the Pentagon. Married July 7, 1952 and moved to Columbus, OH. She retired from the Federal Government DCSC/DSAC in 1985 after 30 years of service. She loved family, friends, bowling and playing cards. Member of Grace United Church of Christ in Columbus. Also, life member of the Columbus Women’s Bowling Association. Friends and family may call from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 20th, 2023 at SCHOEDINGER EAST, located at 5360 East Livingston Avenue, Columbus, OH 43232. Funeral services will follow at 12 PM noon with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital, 460 W. 10th Avenue, Columbus, OH 43210, in Shirley’s name.
