Robert D. Rinehart, age 85, passed away November 15, 2009. Robert was born in Columbus, Ohio to the late Lonnie and Rose Rinehart, and remained here throughout his life. Robert lived a very rich and wonderful life. He attended West High School and served in the U.S. Army. He and his unit’s resourcefulness were instrumental in the breakout of the allied forces on the Normandy Peninsula during WWII. For many years, Robert, his father, and brother all worked as carpenters in the Hilltop and Upper Arlington area. He later went onto work as a printer for Beaver Press. Member of Moose Lodge #11, and American Legion Post, Don Gentile #532. He enjoyed golf, gardening, traveling, and will always be remembered for his ability to fix anything with a paperclip or duct tape. He had an incredible work ethic and instilled this in all his sons. Preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Gladys Morlan, Melbourne, Ernest, Charles Douglas, Lawrence, Richard, Ralph, and Chet Rinehart, and Audrey Postle. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Mary; sons, Marc (Beverly), Robert Garth (Rosa), and Adam (Sue) Rinehart; grandchildren, Matthew and Jennifer Rinehart; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Friday, November 20, 2009 at SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St. Private family inurnment to be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
