On Saturday, January 23, 2021, Robert Thomas Hayes passed away at the age of 65 after a battle with COVID-19. Bob was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 2, 1955 only to be raised by his adoptive parents, Robert C. and Esther M. Hayes. After high school, Bob enlisted in the Navy where he spent a six-year career. He was honorably discharged in 1979, after which time he attended The Ohio State University and joined the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. After college, Bob enjoyed a successful career in sales, using his gift of gab to make friends everywhere he went.
In June of 2001, Bob met Debbie Moomaw and became a part of the family he had always wanted. For the last 20 years he has been a loving partner, stepfather, grandfather, and all-around awesome human being. In his younger years, Bob enjoyed playing football and rugby recreationally which inspired a life-long love of sports. His hobbies included passionately following Ohio State and Broncos football, spending time with his friends and grandkids, and espousing sports trivia of every kind. His passion for sports was matched only by his enthusiasm for life and family.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; his stepchildren, Erika, Jessica, Derrick, and Jenna; his grandchildren, Lauren, Jacob, Neven, Rowan, Erin, Anna, Corbin, and Claire; and his dog, Bella. At Bob's request, his remains will be cremated and interred at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations are kindly asked to help pay for the funeral expenses and can be sent to Schoedinger Dublin 5980 Perimeter Dr., Dublin, Ohio 43017.
