Rita F. Blancett

Rita F. Blancett, age 93, of Gahanna, passed away, Tuesday, May 18, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born August 15, 1927 in Zanesville, OH, the youngest of 11 children of John E. and Luna (Allison) Derry. She retired from Nationwide Insurance Co. following 11 years of service. She is survived by her sons, Larry (Diane) Blancett and Rick (Shannon) Blancett; her grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, Lauren, Kaylyn and Mason and one great grandson, Jackson P. Blancett. Also by sister, Isabel Ross and twin sister, Lita M. Vance and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Franklin Blancett; grandson, David Alan Blancett; sisters, Ernestine Bogle, Geneva Jennings, Pauline Kirk and Ruth Lenhart and brothers, Ellis, Denzil, Wendell, and Dwight Derry. Rita was a longtime member of Stonybrook United Methodist Church, where she was a former member of the Adobe Women's Circle. She was an avid OSU Buckeyes fan and a 60 year member of Laura Chapter # 264 OES, Norwich, OH.
