Richard D. Weese

Richard Weese (age 82) and Nancy Weese (age 84) of Columbus, both passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2024, as a result of a car accident. They are preceded in death by son Scott Weese and son John Busey. They are survived by son Jim (Tina) Busey, daughter Elizabeth Barrett, and daughter Jennifer Viernes, as well as grandchildren Kathryn (Andy) Lott, Kyle (Taylor) Busey, Sara Viernes, Cassie Busey, Kevin Viernes, and Dean Busey; Richard’s sisters Charlotte (John) Whalen, and Karen (Gregg) Landis; Nancy’s brother Ted Cunningham.

They recently celebrated 41 years of marriage and remained very much in love.

Richard and Nancy were active members of the congregation at King Avenue United Methodist Church, and Nancy enjoyed singing in their choir. They also enjoyed traveling together and visited several of the National Parks.

Richard received his BS in Physics from The Ohio State University in 1967. He served as Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity in Columbus, and then as Business Administrator of Trinity United Methodist Church until his retirement in 2014.

Nancy received her MS in Human Nutrition from The Ohio State University in 1975 and was a Registered Dietician at OSU Wexner Medical Center until her retirement in 2007.

Family will receive friends from 4-6PM Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Schoedinger Northwest, 1740 Zollinger Rd. A memorial service will be held at 2PM Friday, November 22, 2024, at King Ave. United Methodist Church, 299 King Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Meals on Wheels or to the National Park Foundation.
