Paul Neil Benedict, age 74, of Columbus and formerly of Marietta, Ohio passed away on September 21, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Paul was born on April 3, 1939, to the late Henry Nelson and Marie (Mercer) Benedict in Beverly, Ohio. He was raised in Fleming, Ohio where he worked for Walter J. McCarthy Real Estate and moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1989. Paul worked many years as a Realtor in Marietta and Columbus at Saxton Real Estate. Paul was a member of the Good Shepherd Community Church where he served as usher and on the Administrative Board for many years. In Paul's earlier years, he spent many hours racing on his dirt bike, gardening, doing yard work, and was an avid fan of the OSU Sports. He was very patriotic and loved to travel the United States. Paul's true love and joy was his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Karen Benedict, brother Ronald "Bubby" Benedict, sister, Bonnie June Benedict, and stepson Bradley White. Survived by Joanne (Fox) White Benedict his loving wife of 14 years, three daughters, Katherine Benedict, Belpre, Ohio, Kimberly (Ross) Warren of Dayton, Ohio and Kelly (Wesley) Jester, Vincent, Ohio and step-son Timothy White of Clintonville; one brother Nelson Benedict and one sister, Leona Slatzer. He is survived by grandchildren, Amber Schaad, McKinzi Warren, Colin Starkey, Harrison Warren; Sarah and Dylan White and great-grandson, Riley White. Calling hours will be held at SCHOEDINGER NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 from 4-8 PM, with calling on Wednesday, September, 25, 2013 at Good Shepherd Community Church, 210 Obetz Road, Columbus, Ohio from 10-11 AM with services at 11 AM. Paul will be transported to Sunset Memory Gardens, Parkersburg, WV with calling hours Wednesday, September 25, 2013 from 5-8 PM and calling Thursday, September 26, 2013 from 10-11 AM with service at 11 AM and burial to follow.
