Norma Jean Miller, age 90, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Miller; parents Robert P. Bird and Sallie B. Bird; and brother Robert P. Bird, Jr.. Jean is survived by her son, Lee (Lisa) Miller; daughter, Sallie (Mark) Wellden; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She graduated from The Ohio State University in 1948 with a B.A. in Education and was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority. Jean met her husband, Bob at The Ohio State University and both were lifelong Buckeye fans having the notoriety of together attending the 1950 "Snow Bowl" game. After graduating from college, she taught kindergarten for over 30 years in the Detroit, MI; Dover, OH; and Columbus, OH school systems. She and Bob loved travelling internationally and enjoyed many winters at their condominium in Belleair Beach, Florida. Jean was a true cat lover making regular visits to the Cat Welfare Association and loving the many cats she had over the years. More than anything she will be remembered by all as having an exceptionally sweet spirit. Most people who knew her even casually would define her by this attribute. A memorial service will be held at the Schoedinger Northwest Chapel 1740 Zollinger Rd., Upper Arlington, OH 43221 on Tuesday, December 27, 2016. Visiting hours will start at 12:00 with the service starting at 1:00.
