Michael "Pokey" D. Ream Sr.

Michael “Pokey” D. Ream, Sr., 75, of Groveport passed away Friday, March 10, 2023 at home. He was born on July 7, 1947 in Columbus, OH to the late Robert E. and Dorothy L. (Burns) Ream. Mike was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the American Legion, a lifetime member of AMVETS, a past president of AMVETS Motorcycle Club, and a member of Leathernecks Nation Motorcycle Club. He was a retired sheet metal worker and fabricator, and in his retirement years worked for PALS helping adults with disabilities. He enjoyed playing drums, coaching his son’s baseball teams, racing cars, and collecting trains. Mike had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor, and his artistic ability to create anything he could imagine was second to none. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ethel Burns. He is survived by his wife, Sofia (Palatsky) Ream; daughter, Becky (Scott) Hilliard; son, Michael (Kris) Ream, Jr.; step-daughter, Maria Palatsky; grandchildren, Syr-Michael Milner and Gabby Ream; great-grandchildren; Anna, Lance, and Ava Milner; sister, Pamela Sue (Terry) Hook; nephew and niece, Terry Lee and Kelly Hook; cousin, Sandy Hassen and many friends. Visitation will be held 6-8 pm Thursday and 6-8 pm Friday at Schoedinger East, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where the funeral service will begin at 10 am Saturday, March 18, 2023. Interment to follow at Arlington Field of Honor in Canal Winchester. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
