Wayne, Indiana; our dearest Au Pair, Sabrina (Sebastien) Boscher, Saint Gelven, France; his beloved Yorkshire terrier, Zora.
He is predeceased by his parents, Donald and Monabel “Monie” Horn; his devoted Schnauzer, Scottie.
Mike was born in St. Louis, Missouri on April 18, 1958. His family moved to Upper Arlington in 1965 and the legend of the “MAHO” gang was born. Mike was a collector of “best friends” from his days as a student at St. Agatha, Jones and finally a 1976 graduate of Upper Arlington High School. He attended The Ohio State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He was a member of the Omicron Deuteron Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta. The Fraternity was a major part of his life and he spent much of his free time over the past 20 years working to promote the Fraternity and provide scholarships.
There aren’t enough words to describe Mike’s larger than life personality. We’ll always remember his huge smile, happy demeanor, booming voice, infectious laugh and his many mustache variations. Those charming qualities drew people to Mike throughout his life. His friends were many and he enjoyed sharing stories about his high school and college days over a martini, cigar and some great jazz music.
Nothing gave Mike more joy than being a father. He was a wonderful dad to Matt, Nick and Jess. He happily attended every orchestra or sports event and supported the kids in every way possible. Mike loved to have fun and was always up for a last minute snowboarding trip to Mad River Mountain, the annual end of summer “boys” trip to Cedar Point and, of course, hosting the Buckeye/FIJI football tailgate at The Shoe. He will be deeply missed by all of his family, friends and all who knew him.
