He served in the US Navy during World War II in the Pacific as a radar technician. Marv has enjoyed a remarkable career in the natural gas industry. After graduating from Ohio University in 1947, Marv joined Columbia Gas as an industrial engineer. From there, he moved up the ladder and became the chairman and CEO of Columbia Distribution Companies in 1976. After retiring from Columbia in 1987, Marv co-founded Interstate Gas Supply with his son Scott. Marv served on boards of numerous community organizations including the United Way, Ohio Chamber of Commerce, Columbus Symphony and the Huntington Bank Board. He was an avid tennis player, enjoyed watching The Ohio State Marching Band. Marv was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Marv was a lifelong member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, Marv was preceded in death by the love of his life for 64 years, Ann (Dilley) White; and his sisters, Helen Thomas and Jeanette Apple. He will be greatly missed by his children, Laurie (Doug) Kruppa, Steve (Katy) White, Cathy (John) Conner and Scott White; grandchildren, Marni (George), Jenna, Andrew (Adina), Ryan (Kate), Matt (Jen), Mia (Michael), Tessa (Shannon), Joe, Doug (Megan), Eric (Stephanie), Kelli, Madison, Nick and Caroline; 8 great-grandchildren; brother and sisters in law, Max Thomas, Berry Dilley, Frank and Jane Dilley, and Ingrid Dilley; many nieces and nephews; dear friend, Wally Barnes; b and caretaker and good friend, Susana Caesar. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday September 15, 2016 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2070 Ridgecliff Rd. Columbus, OH 43221, followed by a celebration of Marv's life from 5-7:30 pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd. 43221. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association 1379 Dublin Rd. Columbus, OH 43215 and the Lisbon Alumni Association PO Box 421 Lisbon, OH 44432.
