Marilyn "Jayne" Leonard of Gahanna, Ohio, age 84, went to dance with the angels on April 20, 2021. She leaves her love with her wonderful family, daughter Elizabeth Jayne Atkinson (Herschel) of Pataskala, OH; son Daniel Gregory Leonard (Gina Moore); and hugs and kisses for grandchildren Hannah Jayne and Clay Gregory Leonard all of Columbia, SC. Special love to her dear sisters Bridget Foner of Collins, NY and Anita Miller of Angola, NY. Affection and many thanks to all her dear friends. Jayne was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Bernice Sucher of Ames, Iowa and sister Catherine Roneker of Corry, PA.
Jayne spent her growing up years in Ames, IA, where her love of dance and theatre began. She started dancing at the age of three in the Ann Dirkson Dance Studio and continued studying there until her graduation from Ames High School in 1954. She went on to her university studies in Ames and Iowa City, Iowa. For several years, she worked for the Department of the Army/Special Services as a show director and choreographer. While in Hawaii, she appeared in Oliver, Funny Girl, Guys and Dolls, Damn Yankees, South Pacific, and Anything Goes. As a member of the screen extras guild, Jayne filmed multiple episodes of "I Dream of Jeanie" with Barbara Eden. Over a period of years, Jayne was commended as one of the finest and most professional choreographers in show business. Her retirement years were spent at Stygler Village, where she spent time with good friends and was active in prayer service and the Bible study group.
