Born to Mary Isabel and Henry Fenton Davis on October 11, 1938, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Lynn Evan Davis went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 16, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio. He is survived by the love of his life, Edie, his brother, Larry (Irene deceased), and his six children, Susan Massarelli (Greg deceased), Bonnie Oldaker (David deceased), Barbara Carlson (John), Debbie Lindgren, (Tom), Bill (Kathy) and Michael (Rhonda), as well as his eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Lynn grew up in Worcester, PA and was a proud graduate of Pennsylvania State University. Lynn subsequently earned his MBA from Capital University. It was at Penn State that Lynn and Edie were married in February 1959. Following his graduation in June 1960, Lynn served his country honorably for 5+ years in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army.
Lynn enjoyed a thirty-five-year career at Lucent Technologies in Columbus, Ohio. Most important to Lynn and Edie was their family and their faith. They worked as a team to provide for their family and be a constant source of encouragement and support for their children and grandchildren.
He accepted Jesus’ gift of salvation while serving in Hawaii and began each day by reading God’s Word. At his eightieth birthday celebration, Lynn quoted Psalm 127:3-5, “Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.”
Lynn lived his life as a blessed man, a devoted husband and loving dad, grandpa and great grandpa. A private family visitation and funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 20th at the Midtown Schoedinger Chapel in Columbus, Ohio followed by a private burial at Glen Rest Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be directed to the Wounded Warriors Project, WOSU, a Columbus-based not-for-profit classical radio station, or the National Kidney Foundation.
