Laima "Eve" Karnitis, born on August 21, 1940, in Kaunas Lithuania, passed away on November 10, 2024, at her home in Columbus, Ohio. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Eve's legacy is one of love, kindness, and strength of spirit.
Eve is survived by her children, Joe (Sue) Karnitis, Catherine Karnitis, and her grandchildren, Samantha, Katie, AJ and Maddy, who were the light of her life. She also has 8 great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Alexander, Sabina, Evelyn, Amelia, Lily, Sean, and Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Charles, her parents, Juozas and Veronika Macys (Juraleviciute), and her brother, Joseph Macys.
Eve's life was marked by her dedication to her family, working community at her Lab, and her spiritual community. She was born during World War II in Lithuania and immigrated to the USA as a small child. Throughout her life, she retained the connection between family who remained in Lithuania and her relatives in the US. She received her BS in Chemistry at OSU and worked many years as owner/president of Advanced Analytics Laboratories, an environmental testing lab.
In her free time, Eve enjoyed gardening (a lily fanatic) and spending time with her family and yoga community. She was an excellent communicator/speaker and remained involved with managing her rental properties.
Her energetic, friendly smile, and warm open heart will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Schoedinger Funeral home, followed by a visitation for family and friends from 2:00 to 4:00. If sending flowers, lilies were her favorite.
Rest in peace, Eve. Your legacy of love and kindness and amazing work ethic will live on in our hearts forever.
