John Lewis Johnson, 88, was born on June 8, 1935, in Thomaston, Georgia to Lillian Louise Chaney-Skelton and Scofield Johnson. John is proceeded in death by his mother Lillian Louise Chaney-Skelton and Father Scofield Johnson. Along with 12 of his siblings, and son David Dickerson. In his younger years, John loved fishing and working on cars with his Buddy who became a brother Dave. You could often find these two in the garage working away on someone’s vehicle or just shooting the breeze. John was a dedicated worker who worked at Rockwell as a Supervisor for many years before retiring. John later in his life gave his life back to the Lord and became a dedicated member of Love Zion Baptist Church. He served his church and his community. John loved going to White Castle every morning to hang out and conversate with the crew there and his buddies. John also enjoyed picking up food from local panties and delivering to those in need. And we cannot forget his love for the Ohio Lottery. John enjoyed his Gospel music but never lost his love of hearing the voice of Whitney Houston. John loved his family and always got a kick out of giving his grandchildren and great-grandchildren change that he rolled up. You never would catch him without change in his pocket and a toothpick on his lip. He will be missed but we know his journey has just begun. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
