Jenny Raidt Peters

Jenny Raidt Peters age, 82, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024. She was born Jenny Kay Raidt on March 8, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the only child of William and Kathryn Raidt. She grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and graduated from both Upper Arlington High School and Capital University. Jenny was married to Theodore Frank Peters, Jr., from 1964 to 2000 and lived for periods in Heidelberg Germany, Chicago IL, Newberry SC, New Orleans LA, San Pablo CA, and then back to Columbus in 2006. She is survived by three children: Paul William Peters, Kathleen Kim Peters Carter, and Elizabeth Anne Peters Frase. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: David William Peters, Madeline Lulu Peters, Kayla Christine Carter, Jessica Loryn Carter, Jacqueline Nicole Carter, Nina Elise Frase, and Lydia Magdalen Frase. She is further survived by her nephew and caregiver, Thomas Phetteplace.

Family. Children. Music. These were the things that made Jenny’s heart sing daily. Professionally she was an elementary school teacher and church choir and bell choir director. At home she was mother not only of her own children but opened her heart and house to countless young people needing shelter and care. Numerous canine and feline pets as well.

Jenny was well traveled and sang in many different countries including Japan, China, and Taiwan. In later years she walked the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem and visited Martin Luther’s Germany. She is most remembered for her charitable heart and was very generous with her time, talents and resources.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2001 Northwest Boulevard, Columbus, Ohio 43212. A visitation will also be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church from 10-11 AM on Friday, December 20, 2024, where a Funeral Service will follow at 11 AM. Interment at Dublin Cemetery, Dublin, Ohio.
