Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at his residence. He was born on August 24, 1958, in
Lancaster, Ohio, to the late Kenneth and Martha (Kean) Whightsel. Fred had been employed as
a forklift operator at Hirschvogel Inc. for the past twelve years. Prior to that, he worked as an
automotive body technician for many years. Surviving him are his beloved wife, Stella (Blosser)
Whightsel, his children Kaleb (Michelle) Whightsel, Joshua Whightsel, Joseph (Christa)
Whightsel, and Delilah (Aaron) Gose, as well as his cherished grandchildren Riley Gose, Zoey
Gose, Jaden Gose, and Isabel Gose. He is also survived by his brothers Robert (Shari)
Whightsel, Michael (Cynde) Whightsel, Jeff (Myra) Whightsel, Frank (Shirley) Whightsel, sister Charolett Whightsel, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. Fred was preceded in
death by his sister Christine Sims, and his beloved aunt Rachel M. Kean, who played a
significant role in raising the Whightsel family. Fred graduated from Reynoldsburg High School
in 1979, where he played football. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Ohio State Buckeyes
and the Cincinnati Bengals. Known for his great sense of humor, Fred had a knack for making
everyone laugh. He was also a devoted follower of Martin Truex Jr. in NASCAR. Family and
friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, December 21, 2023, between 11:00 am
and 1:00 pm at East Columbus Community Church, located at 6926 Tussing Road, where a
Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 pm. Pastor Cheryl Isaacs will officiate the service.
For those who wish, contributions may be made in memory of James Fredrick Whightsel to their
preferred charity. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to SCHOEDINGER EAST, located
at 5360 E. Livingston Avenue, Columbus, OH 43232.
