Harry Emerson Edgington

Harry Emerson Edgington, age 89, of Dublin, entered heaven's gates on February 22, 2016. Harry was born in Columbus, Ohio on July 31, 1926 in a family of 13 children. He was preceded by his parents, John Stanley and Alice Edgington, 11 brothers and sisters and his son in-law, Jeffrey Koontz. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Joanne Edgington; his children: Judy (Dennis) Richardson; Diane Koontz & David Jones; Brian (Kelly) Edgington; Grandchildren: Tim (Anne) Richardson, Andy (Marlo) Richardson, Paula (Brian) Gilmour, Greg (Aimee) Koontz, Mark (Pender) Koontz, Jordan Edgington & Collin Edgington; 10 great grandchildren: Lucas, Sam, Ashley, Jack, Nathan, Izzy, Kelsey, Todd, Matthew and William; and brother Norman (Norma) Edgington. Harry loved sports and was a star baseball and basketball player for South High School in Columbus, being recruited right out of high school by the Red Sox and White Sox in the 1940's. He joined the US Navy and was on the destroyer, USS Vogelgesang during WWII. He spent most of his career life working for The Seven-Up Bottling Company and Perfecto Wine. After retiring, he managed The Barley Bin of Dublin and Upper Arlington. He cherished his family most of all. He loved being around people and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Many thanks to the numerous aides that took care of him the last few years and the comforting care he was given at the Kobacker House. Funeral service 10am Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1581 Cambridge Blvd, Rev. Katy Wheat officiating. Interment to follow at Union Cemetery. Family will receive friends following the burial at Scioto County Club, 2196 Riverside Drive.
