George Lee Leahy, 82, of Columbus, entered into eternal rest Sunday, January 30, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was born October 10, 1928 in Columbus and was a life-long resident. George was a graduate of Aquinas High School and received a B.S. in Business Administration from OSU. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Reserves for 13 years and obtained Captains Rank. George successfully established Arlington Landscape Service in 1958. He was a known pillar of the Arlington Community where his successful business of 36 years ended with his retirement. He was a member of Columbus Landscape Assoc. and OSU Alumni Assoc. with whom he took part in many European tours. George was an avid boater at Lake Erie for many years. He was a longtime member of St. Brendan the Navigator Parish and transferred to St. Andrew Parish. George passed down his impeccable work ethic and support on to his family. He was hard-working, personally humble, always caring, and had a wonderful smile and most striking blue eyes. Preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Bernice Leahy; brother, John; and sister, Ann Eggert. George will be missed by his loving children, Pat (Kim) Leahy, Mansfield, Mike (Sally) Leahy, Orlando, FL, Jane (Tom) Dooley, and Joanne Ford, both of Powell; 6 grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Ann Elizabeth Leahy. Family will receive friends Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 4-8pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am Friday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 10700 Liberty Rd. S., Powell, OH, Fr. Ray Larussa, Officiant. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
