Luise Alliston, age 78, passed away on December 31st, 2020 in Columbus, Ohio. She was born on December 7th, 1942 in Northern Bavaria, Germany, in the border town of Hof on the Saale River. She met her husband, Johnnie Lee Alliston Jr., while he was stationed with the US Air Force in Hof. Luise and John fell in love and wed in February 1966 in Hof. Luise embraced the marriage with great courage and fortitude, as she would leave her home and family for a new life with John in the US.
While Luise had opportunities for a career in the US, she felt it was more important for her to be a stay-at-home mom. Luise had a sharp mind for finances, and her cost consciousness and sacrifices helped the family in challenging times. She could always see the big picture, no matter how complicated the situation might be. Luise was a very generous person and had a heart of gold. She was always giving to others before thinking of herself.
While John and Luise lived in a number of states over the years (TX, MS, FL, IN, GA), Atlanta, Georgia was home to them. Luise was an amazing cook, and learned the American and Southern styles, while still holding onto her German roots. She was an avid reader, loved flowers, enjoyed sewing, crafts and home improvement, and of late, was fond of jewelry and watching financial news. Luise also became a US citizen in 1997.
Throughout her life, Luise had a wide circle of friends, who along with her family, will dearly miss her conversation, compassion and love. She was the daughter of the late Alfred Werner Zenker and Elsa Anna Jacob Zenker, and sister of the late Charlotte Zenker. Luise is survived by her husband, Johnnie, as well as children and grandchildren, Duane Alliston (Ires, Michael and Matthew Alliston) of Sanford, FL (Orlando), and Susanne Spinney (Alan, Emma, Molly and Maggie Spinney) of Blacklick, OH. She is also survived by sisters, Helga Foerster and Inga (Rudolf) Buchta; and brothers, Rudolf and Ulrich Zenker, as well as, by nieces and nephews, Hannes Buchta, Kathrin (Oliver) Buchta-Kost, Angelika Foerster-Shookla, Juergen Foerster, Birgitt Foerster, and Klaus Zenker, and great nieces, Nicole (Christian) Shookla-Krieger, Jennifer (Shvan) Shookla- Dohukee, and Marlene Buchta.
