Dorothy “Dot” Treece, 88, died peacefully Nov 11 at Kensington Place in Columbus. A Columbus native, she grew up in Upper Arlington the daughter of William and Pauline (Morris) Orr of Pennsylvania. She was a terrific athlete, an avid golfer and cheerleader at UA. She met her husband, the late Dr. Florin Treece at the Ohio State University while she was a nursing student. While at Ohio State she was the president of her nursing school class and played varsity golf. She loved her ladies golf Tuesdays at Ohio State Scarlet course!!! She spent much of her later time in Ft Myers where she split her time between the beach cabana and the fairways. Dot could be counted on to have the most tinkered with and best golfing putter which eventually grew to be quite a collection! She could be found with a ready smile and either a book or knitting needles on the beach when she wasn’t on the fairway with Dad (who played a mean slice).
Dot loved her children dearly and is survived by her son Timothy (Jill) Treece and their children Tyler (Emily), Dylan (Katherine) Luke (Erin), Elliot, Everett and Alexandra and their grandchildren Bowen, Turner and Charlotte. Also survived by her son David (Louise) and their children Matt Hove, Michael Treece, Ben Hove, Christin Leister (Treece), and Elizabeth Treece and their grandchildren Michael, Matthew, Sofia, Roman and Jack! She is also survived by her wonderful daughter Elizabeth (Rick) and grandchildren Ashley, Trey and Lauren and great granddaughter Joy!
In lieu of flowers, donations to Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio are welcome. The family will have a private celebration of her life when they are all together during the holidays.
