Dorothy “Dottie” M. Horn, 99 years old, of Upper Arlington, OH and Stuart, FL, passed away on January 25, 2023 in Columbus, OH. She was born in Akron, OH, graduated from Bexley High School (1940), and The Ohio State University (1947). She taught at Beck Street Elementary School in German Village, Columbus, OH for five years. She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church in Columbus, OH, a member of the Scioto Country Club since 1974, a member of TWIG 107 for 50 years, a Founding Service Board Member and supporter of The Buckeye Ranch since 1958 and a proud Ohio State football fan and a season ticketholder since 1940. She enjoyed cooking, making hand-dipped dark chocolate candies, entertaining, traveling with family, OSU Football games, and playing tennis.
Dorothy was preceded in death by parents, James and Lozina Mount, husband Richard L. Horn, and brother Ted Mount. She is survived by four children Richard (Shelly) Horn of Cincinnati, OH; Andrew (Elizabeth) Horn of Rockbridge, OH; Amy Horn of Columbus, OH; and Michael (Paula) Horn of Statesboro, GA. She is also survived by her ¬¬grandchildren A. J. (Erin), Michael (Gina), and Gordon Horn; Nicholas (Rebecca) Horn, Richard (Lindsay) Horn, Cindy (Scott) McAllister and Courtney (Matt) Brown, Greg (Kathleen) Kohlmeier, Ross and Bradley Kohlmeier; and great grandchildren James, Nicholas and Leo Horn, Andey Jane and Ellis Horn, Dean and Evelyn McAllister, Savannah and Liam Brown, and Parker Kohlmeier. Dorothy is also survived by niece Sandy Whitcraft, nephews John (Kathy) Mount, Jim (Linda) Mount, daughter in law Gilda Snyder Horn. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her loving family, numerous relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, February 4, 2023 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Rd, Columbus, OH 43221 at 1 pm. A reception will immediately follow the service at Schoedinger. A Private Family Interment at Union Cemetery located at Olentangy River Rd., Columbus, OH.
