Deloras Jean Cowan “Granny” age 85, of Columbus, Ohio was called home July 19, 2024. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. Her care team at Doctor’s West Hospital provided her and our family with such compassion and dignity. For that we will be forever grateful. Delores Jean was born on April 10, 1939 in Philo, Ohio to Ralph Cowan and Viola (Sloan) Wadika. She was proceeded in death by her parents; siblings James Cowan, Elmer Cowan, Ella Mae Knight, Andrey (Richard) Perry, Leona (John) Rogers, Brenda Bell and Donna (Pete) Fischer; son Richard V. Bennett Jr.; siblings Patricia (Don) Bennett, Ronald (Susanne) Steinhour and sister in law Janice Cowan. Also surviving are her loving children Hugh Bennett, Gina (Christopher) Janke and Alesia Bennett; grandchildren Amy (Andy) Harper, Austin (Bre’) Bennett, Danielle Crum, Jessica (Daniel) Thompson, Patrick (Alex) Dobbs; 8 great grandchildren and numerous niece and nephews whom she adored. If ever received a text in the middle of the night you knew it was from “Aunt Jean”. Deloras worked at General Motors for over 30 years. She loved her family, cooking, country music and soaking up the sun out the pool. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and her favorite family tradition was Christmas Eve at Granny’s which she made magical every year. She also loved having movie night and sleep overs with her grandkids. Visitation will be held on Monday July 29, 2024 from 4PM to 7PM at the Advantage by Schoedinger – Hilltop Chapel, 3030 W Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43204. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday July 30, 2024 at 10AM at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 434 Norton Road, Columbus, Ohio 43228. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Lockbourne, Ohio.
