David A. Baxter age 85 passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at home. Born in Columbus, Ohio October 1, 1931. Preceded in death by parents, Albert and Harriette (O’Brien) Baxter; and son, David S. Baxter. David is survived by his wife of 39 years, Joyce; brother, Charles; sister-in-law, Jean; daughter, Danette Merritt; daughter-in-law, Judy Baxter; sister-in-law Linda Shannon of Galion; nephew, Bob and his wife Debby; niece Annette Robinson; granddaughter, Misty Baxter and friend Kristy Ellis; great granddaughter, Dakota Ellis-Baxter of Hilliard.
David served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired after 26 years at International Harvester and volunteered at the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio. He loved wood-working, and belonged to the Columbus Chippers for many years. He has many close and dear friends who will miss his kindness and sense of humor. David’s family will receive friends 2-4pm and 6-8pm Tuesday at the Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway Grove City, Ohio 43123, where a funeral service will be held 10 AM Wednesday, June 28, 2017. Interment at Sunset Cemetery.
