July 19, 1962 -August 8, 2017
On August 8, Cynthia Jo Nixon Maxwell of Marysville, Ohio at the age of 55, surrounded by loved ones left her home here on earth to join the angels in heaven and bask in God's love. She fought long and hard to stay with us but her body could no longer fight the effects of myotonic muscular dystrophy. Cindy was born July 19,1962 at Keesler A.F.B. in Biloxi, Mississippi, to William and Phyllis Yergin Nixon. She was the youngest of four children (Jane, Debbie and Gregg). As her father was in the air force, the family moved to San Antonio, Texas when Cindy was three. From there, they moved to Ankara, Turkey and then to Travis A.F.B. in California for her father's last assignment before he retired. When Cindy was 11 years old, the family moved to Ohio where her parents had relatives.
Cindy graduated from Centennial High School in 1980 in Columbus, Ohio. She attended Ohio State University where she met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Maxwell, Jr., on sweetest day 1983. They were married August 15, 1987.
Bob's family quickly fell in love Cindy and remained very close throughout the years. Since Cindy's two older sisters lived in California they took great comfort in knowing Cindy had a loving, devoted family to care for her when her health started to decline.
Cindy enjoyed crafts such as cross stitching, latch hooking and word puzzles. Cindy was a member of Bethel International United Methodist Church.; She was a wonderful role model for compassion, patience, courage and love. Cindy was a good Christian who loved God and loved to pray for others. When her courageous and determined struggle to live became too great Cindy was ready to meet Jesus and had no fear of dying-she just did not want to leave her loving husband Bob.
Cindy is survived by her devoted husband Bob ; sisters, Jane (Roger) Schmitt and Debbie(Larry) Snyder of California; brother, Gregg Nixon of Marysville; devoted mother-in-law, Barbara Maxwell of Columbus; sisters-in-law Cyndi(Steve) Rosenbauer of Fairfield, Ohio and Susan (Mike) Ridge of Westerville, Ohio; niece Kristal and Nephew Garrett Schmitt of California.
