Chris Schmitz

Chris Schmitz, 35, of Pataskala passed away unexpectedly on September 2, 2023. He was born on February 18, 1988 in Columbus, Ohio. Chris was a devoted father and family man. He enjoyed going to concerts, amusement parks, fishing and spending time with his family. Chris was the guardian and protector of his family. He would do anything for anybody and would always try to make you laugh. Chris loved football and was an avid Buckeye fan. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Chris was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary C. Schmitz; great-grandparents, Edward and Pauline Krueger and several great-aunts and great-uncles. He is survived by the lights and loves of his life, beloved 14 month old daughter, Scarlett Schmitz; fiancée, Deidra Waddell and their dog, Maynard; mom, Diane Schmitz-McBride and step-dad, Brian McBride; siblings, Sara Schmitz (Tophs DuBord), Drew Turner and Matthew DiRosario (April); nephew, Tony; dearly loved grandpa, Don Schmitz; aunts and uncles, Donna (Steve) Hay, Karen (Gene) Walkowicz, Paula (Bill) Dubosh, Mary L. Schmitz, and Bill (Suzannah) Schmitz; cousins, Kevin (Kassie), Keith, Carly, Michele (Noah), Jared, Joey, Payton, and Eric; second cousins, Brice, Paige, Denny, and Vinny; lifelong friend, Steven Franke and Deidra’s grandparents, Jeannette and Sam Sudlow; as well as numerous other family members and friends. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Wednesday, September 13th at Schoedinger East, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. Columbus, OH 43232, where a prayer service will begin at 7 pm. Funeral service will be held 11 am Thursday, September 14th at Reynoldsburg Community Church, 1636 Graham Rd. Reynoldsburg, OH 43068. Pastor Jeff Greenway officiating. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Lewis Center, OH with Fr. Stephen Dos Santos. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Diane Schmitz-McBride to benefit his sweet Scarlett.
