Carol (Gabby) Manning passed away peacefully on October 11, 2022 at the age of 82 in Urbana, Ohio after a long struggle with Alzheimer disease. Gabby was born in Akron, Ohio in 1939 to the late Ben and Olive Conley and is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Manning as well as sisters Nancy (Lee) Harpold and Thelma (John) Leslie and brothers John (Pam) Conley and Paige Conley. Gabby is survived by sons Shawn Manning and Darin Manning and stepson Jerry (Gail) Manning and three grandchildren Ellen Manning, Sarah Manning and Jonathan Manning as well as her brothers Alfred (Cheryl) Conley and Ben (Peggy) Conley.
Gabby graduated from Garfield High School in Akron, Ohio where she was captain of the cheerleading squad and attended the University of Kansas and was an airline stewardess for Pan Am Airways based in Miami, Florida. Shortly after moving to Columbus, Ohio she started a clothing boutique store called Ramsgate that grew into four stores in Columbus that primarily catered to women. In Columbus, she was instrumental in starting a Bible study in her home for high school and college age individuals that was sponsored by Northwest Chapel Grace Brethren Church which was very popular as was her heart for others to come to salvation. Later in life she enjoyed working in residential real estate and worked for HER Realtors in Dublin/Muirfield as well as Re/Max in Upper Arlington. In 2002 she moved to Rancho Santa Fe, California where she became very involved with Calvary Chapel Church. She was a devout Christian and was very involved in the children’s ministry and various missions at Calvary.
Gabby loved her grandchildren and also enjoyed gardening and walks along the beach. She certainly loved the Lord with all of her heart and soul and she will be dearly missed. There will be a Celebration of Life ceremony, time and date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Calvary Chapel North Coast Benevolence Fund.
