Brian D. Blanchard

Brian D. Blanchard, age 75, of Columbus, formerly of Bexley, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Monday, September 18, 2017 following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 28, 1941 in Cadillac, Michigan, only child of the late Lyle and Louise (Nichols) Blanchard and grandson of the late Olive Nichols. He was retired from Speer Mechanical. Brian, a devoted husband father and grandfather, will be dearly missed by his wife of 52 years, Linnea (Talmon); his children, Brian Jr. "Chip" (Jennifer) Blanchard, Staci Blanchard Collier and Kelly Louise (David) Johnson. Also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Bailey, Benton and Aidan Blanchard, Bo and Caroline Collier, Tyler, Kyle, Abby, and Henry Johnson. As well as his many loyal friends. Brian received his Bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business and quickly became an avid Buckeye fan. He was an active member of Bexley United Methodist Church, where he formerly sang in the choir and was chairman of the Trustees committee and finance committee. He was a member of the Columbus Country Club and Columbus Rotary Club for many years. Brian was an avid skier and loved playing tennis and golf, especially with his regular golf group and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at The James Cancer Hospital and the following doctors; Matthew Old, M.D., Dukagjin Blakaj, M.D., John Byrd, M.D. and Thomas Olencki, M.D. for their exceptional care during treatments. The family would also like to thank their many wonderful friends for their kindness and support, and to The Kobacker House for their care during his final hours. A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:30 pm Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Bexley United Methodist Church, 2657 E. Broad St., Bexley, OH 43209, with Rev. Becky Piatt officiating. Family will receive friends at a reception following the service.
