Anita Valerie Coleman passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018, in her 58th year of life, after a fierce battle with cancer. Anita was born March 12, 1960 in Beckley, WV to Laura and Richard Wright. After spending her younger years in West Virginia, our beloved Anita moved to Columbus, Ohio with the family in 1977 where she went on to graduate from Northland High School. She went on obtain an Associate's degree from Columbus Technical Institute (now known as Columbus State Community College) and met her husband of 32 years, Isaiah Coleman, in the cafeteria there. She worked in the laboratory environment for 30 years in many roles from lab technician to quality assurance manager until she retired in 2016. Following retirement, she spent her time showering her grandchildren with love and enjoying life.
Anita always enjoyed a good party and loved to dance. Many will recall the joy she exuded from the dance floor. She also enjoyed playing Scrabble, playing cards, working jigsaw puzzles with her husband, and playing the slots. She formed a special bond with each of her friends and family members. Although she will be endlessly missed, she leaves us all rich with happy memories.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Laura and Richard Wright; brothers, Harry and Robert Wright; sisters, Ada Darlene Kamara and Sylvia Mae Howard. She is survived by her husband, Isaiah Coleman; her daughters, Kaleisha (Carolyn Evergin) Johnson and Veronica Coleman; brothers and sisters, Evadean Davis, Ricardo Wright, Flemmon Wright, Martha Manns, and Marian (Clarence) Richardson, Shawn Wright and Candy Broaddus; other siblings, Christopher (Ann) Woods and Eldridge (Erika) Law; grandchildren, Keyonte' Coleman, Mason Lewis, Zaylen Coleman, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Service will be held at the Schoedinger North Chapel located at 5554 Karl Rd. in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday, October 6th at 10:30am with a viewing at 9:30am.
