She was born in Columbus on June 29, 1923, the daughter of the late Arthur Frederick William and Hilda Wilamina Adalina Mundt Strietelmeier. she married H. Leon Wallace in Columbus on November 17, 1947, and he preceded her in death on January 12, 1993.
Jeanie had been employed many years ago at Indiana Bell, provided child care for many children over the years in her home and was a homemaker. She was a 1941 graduate of Columbus High School, a longtime member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, where she was very active in the Christian Fellowship, the Sewing Circle, the Couples Club, Bible study classes, the Tabitha Guild and volunteered for many tasks at the church. She had been a den leader for the Cub Scouts and a member of the DAR. She was breast cancer survivor of over 35 years.
She is survived by sons, Roger L. (Susie) Wallace and Ross A. (fiance Peggy Marr) Wallace, both of Columbus; daughters, Diana Caddell of Nicholasville, Ky., and Denise (David L.) Williams of Avon; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Betty Strietelmeier of Las Vegas, and Edith Marthin of Columbus; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; and a brother, Harold M. Strietelmeier.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street with Pastor Mark R. Teike officiating. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
